Exciting News: Mt. Suswa to Welcome New Camp by Kambu Campers!

We’re thrilled to announce that Mount Suswa will soon be home to a new camp operated by Kambu Campers, in partnership with the local Maasai community.

Nestled within the awe-inspiring outer caldera of Mt. Suswa, this upcoming camp will sit on a 5-acre site, just a 20-minute walk from the main community campground—right where most hikes into the crater begin. The location offers easy access to lava caves, the ring trench, and panoramic rim trails, while also maintaining a sense of remoteness, peace, and raw natural beauty.

This initiative is more than just accommodation—it’s a community-powered experience. By collaborating directly with local landowners and guides, we’re supporting sustainable tourism, conservation, and local livelihoods in one of Kenya’s most geologically unique destinations.

Kambu Campers also owns and operates Kambu Mara Camp, a highly rated tented camp located just outside the Sekenani Gate of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Known for its warm hospitality, chef-prepared meals, and affordable safari experiences, Kambu Mara Camp has earned strong reviews from guests who appreciate its blend of comfort, nature, and community connection. This established presence in the Maasai Mara reflects Kambu Campers’ commitment to delivering authentic, locally grounded adventures—a vision now extending to Mt. Suswa.

Stay tuned for updates on the launch of Suswa Camp, and get ready to experience Mt. Suswa with us—where lava caves, steam vents, and big skies meet comfort, culture, and conservation.
